An option gives an investor the chance to take advantage of a stock's short-term move. Options may be profitable when a stock is going up or going down, so a trader can potentially make money in a bullish or bearish market. An option gives an individual the right, but not the obligation, to buy a stock at a specific price (known at the strike price) on or before a specific date (known as expiration day). Options that are not used by the deadline expire worthless, which means the trader faces a deadline.

BetterTrades teaches its students the strategies that can be used in the stock market. In the two-day comprehensive class, students learn how it is possible to profit when the market is going up, going down or trending sideways. The class explains how to buy calls and puts and use a variety of strategies such as credit spreads, trading the news and long-term options. The workshop helps new traders learn how establish a trading plan, and stresses the importance of practice with non-funded trades.
